My kid attended Sylvan Learning Center for a couple of years before we got him a private tutor. We went with Sylvan because ... well, we were lazy I guess. They did okay with him, and they did raise his grades, but it was clear to us he hated going, and we just thought maybe there was someone who could do more for him. The private tutor we have now is much better. He doesn't actually cost much more, but I can tell he provides better service (I think Sylvan doesn't pay its tutors that well, which is probably why), and it's a lot more personal. He understands our son's learning issues better than the Sylvan people did. I always felt like they were taking a rather broad approach at Sylvan, just treating him like any other kid, but every kid is different. Share Your Review
