It isn't everyday that restaurants that open up in shopping malls garner my attention. However, when a major mall, like the Walk Whitman Shops, receives three restaurants, then it is something to take notice. Coming to Walt Whitman Shops later this year are three new eateries: P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Brio Tuscan Grille and Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar.
Out of the three, I am excited to see the new P.F. Chang's come to new locations on Long Island. P.F. Chang’s, which serves a corporate version of Chinese cuisine, has a branch in Westbury, so it’s already a known quantity to most Long Islanders. Another restaurant, which is not known among Long Islanders is Zinburger. This is a casual full-serve restaurant featuring imaginatively composed burgers with wine pairings, is part of an Arizona-based franchise group. Then, there’s Brio Tuscan Grille, a chain based in Columbus, Ohio, whose motto — “Italian Food Inspired by Tuscany” — may be called into question by the first item on its dinner menu: “BBQ chicken pizza.”
Right now, each of these restaurants are currently in the middle of construction. There is no definite date set forth right now for their opening, but I am looking forward to seeing what they can bring as a new choice. It may make going to the mall a little less daunting for us who like to stay out of the shopping areas and in the eating places.
