NICE Bus Jones Beach Ridership Up 40%
Concert and Daytime Beach Service Offered
July 31, 2012…Hempstead, NY… Since the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) kicked off its non-stop summer bus service to Jones Beach State Park and the Nikon Jones Beach Theater earlier this summer, ridership has increased by 40% on the N88 line that serves Jones Beach, according to Michael Setzer, CEO of NICE Bus.
On May 26, NICE bus resumed the N88 to Jones Beach on weekends and on June 23 daily service to the beach began. NICE Bus also reestablished round trip bus service from the Freeport LIRR station to the popular Jones Beach concerts, which had been discontinued by the MTA in 2010.
“Jones Beach State Park is one of Nassau County’s most spectacular destinations and we are especially pleased to be able to offer a reliable transportation option to the beach this summer,” said Mr. Setzer. “It’s even more gratifying to see the overwhelming response of our ridership.”
The N88 offers daily non-stop bus service to Jones Beach and Nikon Jones Beach Theater through Labor Day from the Freeport LIRR Station every 30 minutes on the half hour from 8:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m., stopping at Jones Beach’s West and East Bathhouses and the Central Mall, and returning to the Freeport station.
