There are plenty of great pizza places on Long Island. Some of the better ones are those which offer a different type of pizza with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Vegans on Long Island may recall Jay Astafa, whose vegan pizza was named best in the nation by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) back in 2011. Astafa and his dad, Andy, who owned the 3 Brothers Pizza Cafe in Rockville Centre, have since sold their original restaurant and have now launched their 3 Brothers Pizza Cafe in Farmingdale. Father Andy Astafa is in charge of the “regular” menu; and son, Jay, is the vegan chef.
The new 30-seat restaurant moves into the former home of Domenico’s Pizza and offers table service as well as wine. Anyone who has ever had a great tasting wine with a pizza knows that this in itself is worth the trip to 3 Brothers Pizza. One of the pizza's that many people will be lining up to enjoy is Jay's prizewinning seitan bacon ranch pie topped with grilled seitan, tempeh bacon, tomatoes and Daiya mozzarella and drizzled with ranch dressing. The pie itself is only $13 for a small or $25 for a large, which makes it a great deal.
There are plenty of other choices on the menu with a full line of vegan combinations to choose from. It is great to see this father and son pair back at it again!
