If you enjoyed last week’s post on Oktoberfest dining and drinking specials on Long Island, but haven’t had the chance get a taste of it, there’s another opportunity coming up. We also move from German festivities on Long Island to an Egyptian festival that is sure to delight all!
Come Oct. 16 - 22, Library Café in Farmingdale will host its own Oktoberfest beer lunch and dinner. It’ll feature a four-course menu for $35 a person. Some of the German specialties available include Hot Bavarian Pretzel Fondue, German Potato Soup & Potato Pancakes, Wurst Platter (with sauerkraut and German potato salad), Jaeger Schnitzel (with red cabbage and German potato salad) and Apple Strudel (with German chocolate ice cream). As for the beer, it’ll have available Hofbrau Original, Local Ale, Sam Oktoberfest and Angry Orchard Cider.
For this weekend and next weekend (Oct. 12 - 14 and 19 -21), an Egyptian festival takes place in Woodbury. The 28th Annual Egyptian Festival is presented by St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church. Admission is free to the festival. Attendees have the chance to experience homemade Egyptian dishes, including shish kebabs, falafel kebibah, baklava and other Egyptian foods and desserts. Cleopatra Café will also be on hand with tasty beverages. There’s also an Egyptian market offering genuine imported pharaomic clothes, jewelry, leather goods, artifact replicas and handmade crafts. Carnival rides and raffles with prizes will also be on hand as well as St. Joseph Hospital who’s a sponsor of the flu vaccines onsite, dietary consulting, glaucoma screening and more.
