I also had a terrible foreclosure experience with Wachovia Bank, which I believe is now Wells Fargo. This bank seemed like they were fine for about ten years of our mortgage, but over the past few years when we started having some trouble, they did everything they could not to help us. We appealed to government programs for aid, but the bank refused to work with us even though we qualified for assistance. In the end of course we lost our house.

This bank foreclosed on my aging parents and left them with nowhere to go. I live in an apartment (tiny, as in, two rooms), and there was no room for them. They slept on my living room floor for a month before we finally found them an apartment they could afford. They lived in that house for forty years. Why wasn't it paid off? Because of their ballooning mortgage. They got coaxed into one of those terrible deals where your mortgage starts out really low and then grows out of control. It was foolish of them, but did they deserve this? After forty years of successful payments? All because my dad got laid off and my mom is too old to work anymore.
I hate you Wachovia.
