I've been very happy with this Catholic school. We've been sending our two children there for several years now. One is in fifth grade and the other is in seventh, so we've had some time to form some impressions of the school at different levels.
The only con I can actually name off the top of my head is the fact that the teachers are underpaid, enough so that several of them have quit within the past couple of years. Very sad, although pretty common for school teachers alas.
Positives are many. There is a lot of parental involvement, great CYO programs, tons of extracurricular activities, and lots of religious programs as well, like a Confirmation program.
This has been cited as a negative by other parents but to me is a positive: The religious material is taught at a stronger level to younger students, and takes a bit of a backseat for older students. Why do I like this? My children have a firm foundation of faith based on the religious teachings which have been such an important cornerstone in our family, but as they get older (like my eldest), they will have the chance to think for themselves and not feel so pressured to live up to the school's (or our) religious expectations. I hope of course our children will be strong Catholics, but I'd rather they are able to choose that on their own (or not). Seventh and eighth grade are right around when many children form their own identities and beliefs. But at least they'll have all that knowledge on our faith from their earlier years in school.
