The North Fork Animal Welfare League, or NFAWL  is a shelter to house cats and dogs. They also work extensively with the public to educate and work on preventing cruelty to animals. They also work to spay and neuter animals in order to control the pet population. The cats and dogs in their shelters can be adopted out after an application process and then a fee is paid by the potential pet parent. This shelter also works to return lost animals to their homes if they have been turned in with collars or microchipping ID on them.
