When my dad had to have all but about an inch of his large intestine taken out, we thought he would need a bag, but the doctor was able to attach part of the small intestine to the remaining part of the large and a bag wasn't needed. What a relief. My dad now goes to Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants for follow up tests, and care. They have explained everything to him, and have taught him how to take care of what he has left so he doesn't end up with a bag. he is comfortable talking to them which makes me happier,, knowing he is happy.
