This church is associated with the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist denomination, formerly known as Northport Baptist Church. The music may be modern, but the doctrine is fundamentalist. Expect the usual fundamentalist dogma, in short, the hierarchy of the church believes in a literal 6 day creation narrative and they distribute books to children which teach that Jesus road dinosaurs. The women's Bible study meets on Tuesday morning when most women are working, and they support a crisis pregnancy intervention center to discourage women from having abortions. There are many very sheltered homeschoolers whose parents don't want their children to be exposed to "worldly" concepts such as evolution. An arrival to church later than 10 minutes will result in you being preached at about how being late is disrespectful to The Lord, so don't do that....

My whole family (extended family and all) attends Island Christian Church and has for a number of years now, and we're all very happy with the services. I'm going to be marrying my fiance here in a few weeks, and we are so excited! A lot of the people we invited are fellow congregants, friends we never would have met without attending the church.
