This is a better known restaurant than I had realized. Usually I don't see a lot of people in here (fine by me since I can grab my order and go), but I always thought they were pretty good and that it was kind of sad they weren't better known. Then again ... looks like they are, so it must just be the time of day I show up. I'm glad to know they're doing good.

I have had better, but that being said, at this price I am perfectly happy with Golden Garden. They are my default Chinese restaurant, unless I find something more gourmet within a comparable price range. Which doesn't seem too likely, given I've been here two years without finding anything else.
What do I like to order here? I really like all their seafood dishes, and as Arthur A. mentioned, their scallops are really tasty. The service is good too. Whenever I order, my food is usually ready on time, if not early, according to the estimate they give me. This is appreciated, since I usually stop by on my way home after work, and I don't like waiting around, as by then I am tired and hungry and just want to go home.

This was one of the first restaurants I ate at when I moved to the island! We were busy moving all of our stuff and unpacking everything, and wanted a quick meal to replenish our energy so we could get back to work in the evening. Golden Garden was open late, had cheap prices, and smelled delicious, so that's what we got. It isn't the most wonderful food in the universe, but when you're as tired as we were, it was heavenly. So I have good mental associations with the restaurant, which is probably one of the reasons I am still a regular patron there. I hope they stay in business for many years.

It's a pretty standard Chinese restaurant. Golden Garden is neither the best nor the worst Chinese food I've had. I usually get the fried seafood cheese wonton, which is really good, and then follow it up with the scallop with string beans. Cooking scallops right is a bit of an art form, and they do all right--they aren't squishy and slimy like they are when you cook them for the wrong amount of time. Food is a bit greasy but that's to be expected. Prices are good. Value is decent.
