My wife and I purchased one of these "modular homes" for a plot of land we inherited from my uncle. When we got the land we were thrilled, but there was nothing on it but an old barn and a rather run-down little farmhouse. Since the farmhouse would've costed a lot to get back into working condition (and it was too small for us), we designated it a shed and purchased a new house from Gold Key.

It's really interesting how it works if you don't know anything about it. What happens is, you order a custom design, and then they ship out the "modules" of the house and assemble them on site. It's less expensive than some other means of construction, but the house they built us is very sturdy, matches the plan we asked for, and was more cost effective than building one from scratch without the modules. All in all, it was a pretty impressive purchase. We're now having fun picking out furniture for the new house! Share Your Review
