We were nervous about the schools when we moved here. I'd heard a lot about the NY school system that was not exactly comforting to me as a mother. So I have been pleasantly surprised when my daughter comes home every day with a smile on her face and a story to tell me about what she learned today. It's a big weight off as a mother to know that your daughter is getting a good education!

We used to live downtown, but it was just too crazy. Our daughter has autism. All the bustle was way too much for her to handle. And frankly, it was a bit much for us too, so we can only imagine what it was like for her. She still has problems (to be expected), but she seems a lot calmer in the new environment, and the new school system has been treating her with more respect and understanding than we were encountering downtown. We are confident that we made the healthy decision for her by moving to Long Island.
