I know that this place isn't amazing; the food does all taste alike, but it's still tasty, and it still hits the spot when I want cheap Chinese food and lots of it. Our kids really love to eat here too. They like that they can choose anything they want.

I have mixed feelings about Best Buffet. The food is tasty, but it isn't amazing, and I thought it all "tastes alike" if that make sense. This sometimes happens with Chinese food. I have no idea why. Maybe it has something to do with oil or MSG.
The main problem I have with Best Buffet is price related. I'd happily pay $10 for this buffet. That'd be an excellent deal. But it costs THREE TIMES that. Which should only be the price for fine dining, and that is one thing this restaurant is not. I think that given better food, I'd love the concept. And I do like the concept. If I could find a really, really good equivalent of this, I'd be thrilled. As it is, they have a great operating idea, but their food just isn't up to par.
Oh yeah, and the servers refuse tips. Not cool.

I wasn't too big a fan of Best Buffet. It would've been perfectly acceptable at about half the cost. $10-15 I could've seen paying for the buffet. All-you-can-eat is nice, but I would have expected higher quality for what I got. All the food tasted the same to me. You know, not identical. But nothing really stood out. It all seemed interchangeable. I think it has to do with how it's prepared.
There was also some weird thing where I couldn't tip my waitress. What was that about?

This is a restaurant I'd heard a lot about - a whole range from bad to good. At $30 a pop (yes, that's per person), I figured it had better be amazing, so I saved it for a special occasion. That turned out to not be such a great move in light of the fact that it so wasn't worth it. You know, if the price had been cheaper, like maybe $10-15, I could have gone for it, but for two people this was a $60 meal ... and the food just wasn't on the level it should have been for that price. It was good, but it wasn't great. It was basically just an average Chinese buffet. I'd rather have paid an average price for it.
Here's the other weird thing ... I couldn't tip the servers. Every time I tried to tip a server, the server would tell me he wasn't allowed to receive a tip, which doesn't sit right by me ... regardless of the wages they were being paid (and seriously, who pays servers well? Most servers draw their principle wage from their tips). For a $60 meal, these servers should be making out well on tip money, instead they're making nothing. Really makes you wonder.
