Azuma is an underrated little gem which is hidden away in a dodgy spot which looks like nothing much, but which conceals some of the best cuisine in town. The restaurant itself is very small with a very low ceiling. It is a bit cramped, but otherwise not uncomfortable. It’s clean and pleasant with an intimate feel.
Service is good, food is excellent. Anything and everything here that has shrimp in it is downright amazing. I usually am not really big into shrimp, because I get fussy about how it is prepared and what kind of texture it has, but they do an outstanding job at Azuma, and I am always more than pleased. They also do some fusion and crossover dishes which are great, like the lobster roll. The sushi is good too, very fresh, which is what’s important. The rice in the sushi rolls and the sushi beds is nice and sticky, not at all dry. So don’t be discouraged when you see the exterior or the location. It’s what’s inside that counts, and you’ll love Azuma if you love Japanese food and seafood!

Even though Japanese is not my top cuisine internationally, still Azuma Japanese Restaurant is always a delight for us to visit. The decor is absolutely enchanting, having the nicest touch of eastern civilizations and romantic atmosphere. The food is prepared in a unique way, not so much similar to the western cuisine in general. The ingredients are always fresh and they are more often used raw or under cooked, so as to maintain their original texture. Fish and veggies are the raw materials mostly used within this restaurant. The prices are great, given the high quality of the place and food served there. All in all, the service is impeccable. They show you respect and try toplease you without any hidden agenda, which completes a great restaurant, highly recommended.
