Bohemia, NY - December 31st, 2012 Press Release
On December 31, 2012, Yumi Media responded to an Ortega Times article by Vanessa Mena regarding the statistics and facts behind vegetarianism and its benefit on animals.
According to the Ortega Times article, “In the United States, only 7% of 8-18 year olds are vegetarians, and approximately 5% of adults are vegetarians.” The article states that half of those are also vegans, which unlike their vegetarian counterparts will not eat anything with any sort of animal product in it.
According to the article, “People can choose to be vegetarians for religious beliefs, because of health issues, or to avoid bacterial diseases. Animal meats can carry different types of bacteria that can make you sick.” The article mentions that another main reason people choose to be a vegetarian or vegan is because most of them believe that animal farming is cruel, and does not want to contribute to it in any way.
“More than 7 billion animals die every year for human consumption,” the article sadly informs. Despite the fact that the article admits a vegetarian makes it hard for people to get their B12 and iron, the overall benefits are good enough for them.
Yumi Media responded to the article with applause for bringing light to the vegetarian lifestyle. “Some of these facts just show why vegetarians choose the lifestyle they choose. Whether you are bettering your health, the environment, or saving animals lives, they are all positive reasons to be a vegetarian,” says Yumi Media representative Takara Licausi. “To save more animals lives, choose a tasty Quorn meat alternative. You will never hear any Quorn complaints from me.”
