Southampton, NY - June 10th, 2015 - The Women’s Fund of Long Island (“WFLI”) hosted a Hamptons Kick-Off event: We are the Change – which which took place on Saturday, June 6th at the Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, Long Island. The WFLI honored Academy Award winner and women's equality advocate Patricia Arquette. Donna Karan was in attendance and introduced Arquette during the program.
Hosting the event was Annette Richardson, Senior Advisor at the UN Office for Partnerships who recently spearheaded the UN Women Beijing +20 commemorative event with Hillary Rodham Clinton and Marcia Dyson, the founder and CEO of Women's Global Initiative, a for-profit organization that works to enhance the lives of women by increasing their wealth, education, and civil participation.

Funds raised will go to support Women’s Fund programs including GirlsFLI, which brings together high school girls each year from diverse social-economic, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds across Long Island. The program empowers girls and provides the tools for them to tackle pressing issues in their communities and their lives -- gang violence, self esteem, drugs, bullying, human trafficking and poverty-- and teaches them how to collaborate together to create strategies for change.
These young women come away from the program with leadership skills, confidence, and a strong sense of their role as changemakers in building a more promising future.
