Award winning writer George Sim Johnston will lead the audience in a look at Darwin's theory of evolution and the question of human origins; the controversial Galileo Affair (which history books still see as the definitive parting of ways between science and religion) and suggest ways of reading the creation account in the Book of Genesis> The talk will take a cue form the 17th Century philosopher Francis Bacon: A little science can lead us away from God, while a fuller understanding of it leads us back again.
George Sim Johnston is a writer living in New York City. He is a contributing editor for Crisis magazine and the National Catholic Register. His articles and essays have appeared in Harpers, The American Spectator, Commentary, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Crisis, and Catholic World Report. He is a recipient of the Journalism Award from the Catholic Press Association. and author of “The Galileo Affair.” (Princeton, NJ: Scepter Press).
