The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has left many Long Islanders in the dark – not only at their home, but also on where to find food and gas. While we’ve typically highlighted restaurants, entertainment and shopping opportunities on Long Island for this column, this week our efforts are focused on where Long Islanders can go for essentials as the recovery effort continues.
Go online to FindGas.org for information on open gas stations. Enter your address or zip code and it’ll come up with results to gas stations near you that are open and closed.
Also, while many Long Islanders have planned ahead – stocking up on food and water before Sandy’s arrival – it’s been slightly over a week since her horrific mark on Long Island. Much of what’s been stocked has depleted, so here are some of the markets where you can restock on essentials. The list was originally released by Suffolk County officials.
