If the reports are to be believed, the Jobs Express website has been a great way for thousands of people around Long Island to locate work and get back to work. As the nation continues to try and recover from the economic depression, the Jobs Express website has been a bright light in darkened times.
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau) has said, "In under a year, more than 44,000 individuals seeking employment have been successfully hired.” Those sound like pretty good numbers when it comes to people getting back to work and providing for their families.
The Jobs Express website began with 60,000 jobs posted by employers throughout the State. It was started in October 2011 by the State Department of Labor. Since the website went live, there have been over 10,000 more jobs added to the database. The website also receives approximately 100,000 hits a month. This means that both employers, more than 8,000 of them, and those seeking work are accessing the database and listing their openings.
Hannon also went on to say, “My three highest priorities are jobs, jobs, and more jobs. I have successfully partnered with Governor Cuomo on a number of statewide initiatives ranging from the NY Works program, Jobs Express, and the Regional Economic Development Councils, and my Senate colleagues and I have passed additional legislation like my ‘New Jobs-New York Plan’ to help create thousands of additional jobs in our state.”
Jobs Express works by listing the jobs that employers post and then categorizing them according to region. Job seekers can then log onto the site and evaluate which sectors are growing, and which jobs are available within their skill sets. If you have not taken the opportunity to look at Jobs Express you can do so here.
