Northeast District, National Association Of Negro Business And Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. Hold Its Vocal Arts Competition For Emerging Artists
The Northeast District (NED) of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Incorporated (NANBPWC, Inc.) will hold its Vocal Arts Competition For Emerging Artists.
Its former title was the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition. This is the signature program of NANBPWC, Inc. The purpose of this program is to support young people in the furtherance of their careers in classical vocal music. The participants must be undergraduate, graduate or post graduate students between the ages of eighteen and thirty years. In the competition each artist is required to sing a French aria or cantata, a German Lied and a Negro spiritual. Each artist is sponsored by a local club within the Northeast District. The Northeast District consists of the states of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont. Mrs. Claretha L. Smith, R.N., MSN is the Governor.
The Northeast District Vocal Arts Competition For Emerging Arts will be held at the African American Museum and Education Resource Center of Nassau County on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 11am to 2 pm. The location is 110 North Franklin Street, Hempstead, NY 11550 at the corner of Jackson Street. The public is invited at no charge.
