Hurricane Sandy destroyed and damaged many homes and businesses on Long Island Sound. One of those businesses has recently re-opened after more than three months of repairs and renovations, and is showing that restaurants can come back from a devastating hit. VIEW is a riverfront destination that overlooks the Great South Bay and was hit hard by the storm in November 2012.
This newly restored destination was once a part of the “Idle Hour” Estate that was owned by William K. Vanderbilt. This beautiful restaurant features modern and nautical elegance and offers a priceless view of the Great South Bay that you can find no where else. It has been fully revamped, including the seasonal menus, and has added a brand new sushi bar and a focus on local and fresh foods.
VIEW has been restored and is ready for the outdoor dining season. It opened its doors on Wednesday, March 27th at 5PM for dinner with service for dinner on Tuesday through Sunday. On Tuesday, April 2nd, the restaurant began serving both lunch and dinner, and on May 6th, the restaurant will move to serving lunch and dinner seven days a week to the delight of locals and non-locals alike.
VIEW hosted a grand re-opening party on April 5th and rewarded loyal customers with hors d’ouevres and celebratory cocktails to celebrate a very special comeback. People are excited to see it come back and to enjoy the food and the scenery that they have not been able to see anywhere else.
VIEW offers seasonal menus, as well as a single-wedding venue that offers wonderful food, presentation, and great service that will make any wedding day even more special and memorable for years to come.
