VERED GALLERY TO OPEN NEW CONTEMPORARY ART VENUE IN EAST HAMPTON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Veredcontemporary.com, a new online resource for contemporary art to launch Sun, April 1st
(East Hampton, NY, January 16, 2012) - Vered Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its new art venture Vered Contemporary this Memorial Day Weekend. After 34 years in the same East Hampton location, eponymous gallery owner Vered and her business partner Janet Lehr will open the Contemporary Art wing as a new component of their existing space located at 68 Park Place. Vered Gallery will continue its long tradition of exhibiting works by modern and contemporary masters while the new space will focus on talented emerging and mid-career artists such as Delfina Blaquier, Ray Caesar, Francesco Lo Castro and Steven Klein.
Vered Contemporary represents a new environment, in the Hamptons and online, dedicated to recognizing and supporting the significance of Contemporary Art while showcasing the cutting edge talent that is actively re-shaping popular culture as we know it. As more and more contemporary artists are moving from outside the establishment to major galleries, auction houses and museums, Vered remains committed to its mission to bring the most provocative, exciting and relevant art to our clientele.
Though best known for its collection of blue-chip secondary market treasures, Vered Gallery has been steadfast in cultivating its presence in the contemporary art scene. For the past five years Damien Roman, Vered's Director of Contemporary Art, has curated annual shows focused on exciting new artists including the wildly popular Steven Klein and Art on the Edge exhibitions. Among the talented artists to exhibit in these yearly showcases are Colin Christian, Jeremy Earhart, AJ Fosik, Raul Higuera, Kris Lewis, Brandi Milne, Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, James Roper, Nathan Spoor and Lu Cong.
Roman remarks: “While working as a traditional gallery with rotating solo and group exhibitions Vered Contemporary will also function as a special projects space embracing a cultural cross section of media including fashion, performance, film, music and design. Future projects are being planned with Designers, Collectors and Directors as special guest curators to achieve our goal to further advance the dialogue of new contemporary art movements, from their cultural roots to their current influence. “
For its inaugural exhibition, Vered Contemporary will feature Art on the Edge 2012. Art on the Edge, now in its third year, is an annual survey of the most provocative new painters, sculptors and photographers working in their respective mediums today. Each year the eclectic nature and quality of work featured inArt on the Edge exhibits have made it the “must-see” Summer event for savvy Art collectors in the Hamptons. Beginning March 1st, Contemporary Art lovers will also have a new online resource as Vered Contemporary launches veredcontemporary.com. Site visitors will be able to discover new artists and view their work, follow and comment on current art news stories and plan their weekend with an arts calendar, related to social events that matter.
