If you love live performances of children's stories, then this weekend is one that can keep you pretty busy. Throughout Long Island in February there are many different live adaptations of children's stories for families to watch and enjoy themselves at. In particular, this first weekend of February has three great shows to choose from.
On Saturday, Feb. 2nd, Studio Theatre in Lindenhurst is putting on a musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale that blends comedy and enchanting magic as the evil Thornberry puts a curse on Princess Elaine. There is an encore presentation on Feb. 9th also. This is a great show and one that I know your little girls will love. The cost is $10 for admission and the show starts at 2 pm.
Also on every Saturday and Sunday through February is the Wizard of Oz at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. Follow Dorothy in her quest to find the Wizard who can help her return home. Cost is $15 and start times are at 2 and 5 PM.
This Sunday you can also take in We're Going on a Bear Hunt at the LIU Tiles Center. Enjoy catchy songs and interactive scenes based on Michael Rosen's award-winning book. The show is recommended for ages 3 and up. Cost is a little higher at $15 to $22, but it is well worth it. Shows are at 11 AM and 1 PM.
This week is full of great, lively, and entertaining live shows for the entire family. Make sure you get out there and see what else is happening!
