Smithtown Township Arts Council presents a fine art exhibition The Ones That Got Away: Celebrating the Long Island Artists January 12 through February 8. The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, January 12, 2-4 pm to meet the artists and view the exhibit.
We all know that artists submit some of their favorite works to a Juried Art Show and yet they just did not catch the eye/hook of the one doing the judging. We also know how subjective and difficult it is for a juror to acknowledge so few art works from so many other fine works. The Mills Pond House Gallery offered Long Island Artists an opportunity to display their work that has never captured any award, recognition or prize at all in any show, despite the Artist's pride in their painting.
A wide variety of styles and media will be displayed including watercolor, oil, pastel, ceramic, acrylic and pen and ink.
Exhibiting Long Island Artists: (at press time) Joyce Bressler (Commack), Kathleen Carlsson (Stony Brook), Francine Corso (Northport), Dianna Costa (Lindenhurst), Vivian Gattuso (Ronkonkoma), Kristen Hadjoglou (Eastport), David Herman (East Meadow), Katherine Hiscox (Commack), David Jaycox, Jr.(Commack), Adrian Kotsa (Hauppauge), Michael Kutzing (Port Jefferson), j. lefsky (Nesconset), Judy Liu (East Setauket), Eleanor Tyndall Meier (Setauket), Joe Miller (Rocky Point), Rick Mundy (East Setauket), Vivian Pollack (Melville), Toni Raiten-D'Antonio (Miller Place), Robert Roehrig (East Setauket), Jim Scovel (Northport), Shawn Sullivan (Franklin Square), Sten J. Urbom (Lake Ronkonkoma), Mary Ann Vetter (St. James), Mary L. Webb (East Northport), Sequoyah Wharton (Lake Grove), Burton A. Woods (Mt. Sinai)
STAC, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is supported by Town of Smithtown. This program is partially funded by Suffolk County
