Summer Concert Series Featuring Top Jazz Performers Returns to Raphael Vineyard
Long Island -- Spend a day in picturesque wine country, enjoy a café lunch in one of the many quaint villages and browse local art and antique shops. Then spend the rest of the afternoon sipping fine wine and listening to accomplished contemporary jazz musicians.
How far do you have to go? You don’t even have to leave the Island.
This summer, Jazz on the Island returns to beautiful Raphael Vineyard in Peconic, NY for its 2012 Summer Concert Series. This year’s event features some of the most acclaimed artists in contemporary jazz - Jeff Golub with Henry Butler will perform on June 3rd; Marc Antoine and Brian Simpson on July 15th; Matt Marshak and Nick Colionne on August 19th. All shows are indoors in Raphael’s grand Renaissance Ballroom and start at 2:30 pm.
This is the second season for Jazz on the Island, formed by Steve Butler and Ann Lucido. They share a passion for this music and think Long Islanders will, too. Their goal is to bring the best jazz performers to venues in the North Fork, Hamptons and across Long Island.
“There’s nothing better than spending a summer day out on the East End and losing myself in a lick,” said Matt Marshak, a contemporary jazz guitarist and supporter of Jazz on the Island. Known for injecting an R&B flavor into his music, Marshak adds “I can’t wait to play at Raphael Vineyard again and to share my love of this music with my Long Island family.”
Tickets for the 2012 Summer Concert Series are $35 to $40 for each show and can be purchased at jazzontheisland.com. The show’s sponsors are Car Care Specialties, Mighty Music and Lucido+Koulian+Schmitt.
