Details The Summer Arts Festival, in its 47th year of bringing top performing arts talent to Huntington, will open June 22 with an impressive line up. Friday, June 22 opens the festival with Pakistan's top pop-rock band, noori, on their first U.S tour
Noori helped define Sufi-rock and as one of the leading names in Pakistan's music industry, they are often credited for revitalizing rock music forPakistan's youth. noori won Best Rock Song, "Do Dil" at the MTV Music Awards and was also selected as the "Picked Artist of the Month" on Pakistani channel The Musik. Noori will perform only a few venues in the US, including the Summer Arts Festival and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Their US performances are part of Center Stage, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the New England Foundation of the Arts.
About the Summer Arts Festival
Presented by the Town of Huntington and produced by the Huntington Arts Council, the festival offers the caliber and musical journey that is indicative of today's global music scene which extends beyond borders. All performances are free and held on the Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park, Huntington, at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday Family Nights at 7:30 p.m.
