SUFFOLK COUNTY SPCA HONORS K-9 OF THE YEAR
Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross will hold a press conference on Saturday, September 8, 2012, 10:30 am at Diamond in the Pines Park, 1844 Rt. 112, intersection of North Ocean Avenue(C.R. 83) and Rt. 112, Coram, NY honoring Suffolk County Police K-9 dog Chase as K-9 of the year. The award will be presented at a War Dog Memorial event honoring war dogs and those dogs that served at Ground Zero after the 9-11 attacks.
As reported in Newsday, Chase and his handlers officers William Krolikiewicz and Samuel Barreto found Dr. Jerome Nadler alive in the Caleb Smith State Park Preserve on Thursday just after noon. He had been missing for 3 days.
Chief Gross said that the Police K-9 dogs worked tirelessly over a 3 day period under very grueling conditions in order to find the missing doctor alive.
