Steve Stern Raises $500k in 1st Quarter, Has $445K On-Hand

Ralph C Friday, April 15, 2016

Huntington, NY - April 15, 2016 - Today, Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern announced that he will file with over $500,000 raised in the first fundraising quarter. Stern also has $445,000 on hand. Per previous press reports, Stern has now raised more money than any other candidate in the race.

In response to this strong filing, Steve Stern said: "Congress needs to start working for New York's middle class families, not for the special interests, and I'm thrilled by the outstanding early support for my candidacy. Our campaign is off to a great start because voters across Long Island and Queens are fed up with Tea Party obstructionists trying to shut down the government over funding for Planned Parenthood and they know that together, we can make Congress work for us. I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has joined this campaign. I look forward to spending the months ahead meeting my neighbors and discussing why it's so important that we fight for women's equality, college affordability, and our local environment."

The 3rd Congressional District became an open seat after Rep. Steve Israel announced he would not seek re-election in January. The Democratic Primary will be held on June 28th. Campaign finance reports are due to be filed on April 15th.

About Steve Stern:
Legislator Steve Stern has spent his entire career fighting for middle class families, veterans, and senior citizens on Long Island. Currently serving his sixth term as a Suffolk County Legislator, Steve has stood out as both a progressive champion and a prudent watchdog of taxpayer dollars. He has been a leader in our community – fighting for homeless veterans, senior citizens, and protecting the Long Island Sound. Steve lives in Dix Hills with his wife, Meredith, and his two teenage boys. He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) and serves as adjunct Professor at Touro School of Law. Steve has also served as trustee of the Multiple Sclerosis Society-LI Chapter, a past Vice-President of the Suffolk Y-JCC, and a coach in Half Hollow Hills Little League.
