The 16th annual Stand for Children Day will be held on Friday, May 31st from 10 to noon at Eisenhower Park. This collaboration between the Nassau County Association for the Education of Young Children (NCAEYC) and the Child Care Council of Nassau (Council) supports issues surrounding the development and well being of children.
Affordable and quality childcare is a big issue for many parents and families. This is an issue that is at the forefront of the Stand for Children Day. More than 200 young children from different childcare programs in Nassau County attend the event and it is a tradition for them to plant seedlings in the Children’s Garden of Eisenhower Park.
The Margo O’Connor Advocate of the Year Award is presented at the event. This award will be presented to Rose Frazier this year. She has been a childcare provider for forty years and says, “I get so much pleasure out of seeing my former daycare children as adults, and it’s nice to know they still trust me to take care of their children. Although I have only two biological children, I was blessed to help raise hundreds of others.”
