On Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M., St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center participated in a “Doo Wop Car Show”, hosted by Judy’s Run for Stroke Awareness and Prevention at the Smithtown Historical Society. Along with the Doo Wop musical features and classic car show, free blood pressure screenings, sponsored by St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, were offered to 30 participants by Joan Cuomo, RN, BSN, CCRN and Catherine Videtto, RN, MSN, ANP, CCRN, CPHQ.
Stroke is a devastating disease that often strikes very suddenly. Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability and the third-leading cause of death in theUnited States. About 6.4 million Americans are living with stroke, and strokes are very common, affecting 4 out of 5 American families. The estimated cost of stroke this year in U.S is $73 billion. St. Catherine was proud to support the event which raises stroke awareness and prevention.
