St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center recognized physicians for their tremendous contribution to the hospital and its surrounding communities on Monday, March 18th, at an annual physician appreciation breakfast in honor of Doctor’s Day, to be observed nationally on March 30, 2013.
The first Doctor's Day observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia. Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. The tradition of honoring physicians is a commemoration St. Catherine’s practices daily, but on National Doctor’s Day, the administration makes an extra effort to show their overwhelming appreciation.
“St. Catherine’s physicians keep our community healthy and thriving and during Physician Appreciation Week, we join together to say thank you to all St. Catherine’s dedicated physicians,” said Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer Patrick O’Shaughnessy, DO.
