Paul E. Savoca, MD, FACS, FASCRS has joined the Colorectal Program at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown. He joins Director of the Colonand Rectal Program, David E. Rivadeneira, MD, FACS, FASCRS and attending surgeon, Jill C. Genua, MD, FACS, FASCRS, located at 48 Route 25A, Smithtown, NY 11787, Suite 007. Like Dr. Rivadeneira and Dr. Genua, Dr. Savoca specializes in minimally invasive, laparoscopic colon and rectal surgical surgery, which reduces patients’ pain and lets them return to full activity more quickly after surgery.
Dr. Savoca earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his surgical residency at Yale University School of Medicine where he was a Research Fellow in the Gastrointestinal Surgical Research Group and completed his Colorectal Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. In the 19 years prior to his new home at St. Catherine, he was a member of Fairfax Colon and Rectal Surgery, the District of Columbiaarea’s largest colorectal surgical practice based in Fairfax, Virginia. While there, Dr. Savoca was considered one of the premiere members of his specialty completing roughly 200 major colorectal operations yearly.

The Colonand Rectal Program at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Centeris staffed with board-certified colorectal surgeons, both male and female, who are experts in the use of minimally-invasive techniques to treat colon and rectal disorders. The minimally invasive options available through the program include laparoscopic surgery, single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), and transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). TheColonand Rectal Program also offers minimally invasive robotics surgery performed with the da Vinci ® Surgical System. The da Vinci® Surgical System enables surgeons to perform delicate and complex operations through a few tiny incisions with increased vision, precision, dexterity and control.
