Smithtown, New York— St. Catherine of Siena of Siena Medical Center is dedicated to educating the public about health eating options throughout the year. On Saturday, July 20, St. Catherine of Siena partnered with Island Harvest and hosted a Summer Healthy Food Fair to educate the community about health eating options for the season.
Attendees were given fresh produce and educated about eating healthy options, including live cooking demonstrations from Island Harvest representatives. The medical center provided free health screenings and activities for children throughout the fair, along with tours of the hospital’s many renovated units.
In addition to the fair, Siena Village residents, Mr. Ho Sun and Mrs. Chong Sook Yoo, took advantage of an unused area on the property of Siena Village, and the results can only be described as delicious. The couple took time to de-bush the once communal un-used gardening area, and their labor has been rewarded with tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, scallions, squash, garlic, pepper, jalapeño pepper, Swiss chard and cabbage—which they are now sharing with other residents.
