Huntington, NY - Dec. 31, 2012
Sportsideo, the rapidly growing sports social network, announced today that it is launching its new SportsHigh5 platform on Monday, January 7, 2013. This new and exciting addition to Sportsideo uses state-of-the-art technologies to enable each member of Sportsideo’s community to grow their personal “Fan” base and get rewarded for their sports knowledge by easily sharing comments, videos and photos from their favorite sports including training information, live updates, opinions, game recaps, tips and tricks and much more.
"We began Sportsideo to celebrate the sports experiences of each person who participates in a sport – athletes, fans, coaches, scouts, trainers, nutritionists, executives, agents or news reporters,” said Steve Vesce, Managing Director of Sportsideo. SportsHigh5 is a major enhancement and comes as a result of the feedback we received from our growing sports community. In addition to enabling fast, easy sharing of sports info, photos, video and news between members, SportsHigh5 integrates our members with both Facebook and Twitter to easily include friends and followers into each member’s sports experience. Most exciting is how Sportsideo enables each person to have the same “pro experience” as any professional in sports – using their sports experience to grow their personal “Fan” base and accumulate High5’s for their sports knowledge,” concluded Vesce.
Chris Carelli, Director of Content Strategy for Sportsideo, commented, “SportsHigh5 is more than just sharing sports knowledge and information. Sportsideo’s SportsHigh5 is a milestone in social software – creating an environment that delivers the same feel as real sports experiences. SportsHigh5 gives each member the chance to engage with friends, teammates, fans and get rewarded with High5’s for his or her performance. It’s rewarding and most of all, it is lots of fun – with the chance for each member to increase his or her personal “Fans” and achieve an increasing number of High5’s. Our members can use the new capabilities to create their own community or group, manage a team, connect with their Facebook page or Twitter account and much more,” said Carelli.
Sportsideo began with a simple idea – celebrate each person’s sports experience by enabling pro and amateur athletes, fans, coaches, scouts, trainers, agents, nutritionists and news reporters – all of the participants in a sport – to connect and share knowledge in their favorite sports. Sportsideo’s mission has resonated with people who participate in more than 100 sports played around the world, and its unique brand of sports coverage has attracted the attention of a number of NCAA and professional teams.
“We are really pleased with the growth of Sportsideo and the traction we are enjoying over the past couple of quarters,” continued Vesce. “Sportsideo continues to be focused on celebrating each person’s sports experience, recognizing that sports experience is common to all people who participate in the game. Whether you are the highest paid pro athlete or a weekend warrior – a Big East basketball team coach or you coach your 7-year-old son’s tee ball team – and no matter if you live in the U.S., in Asia or in Europe – sports experience is universal and instantly creates a bond between all those who have shared that experience,” said Vesce.
About Sportsideo:
Sportsideo is the fast growing sports social network of pro and amateur athletes, fans, coaches, scouts, trainers, nutritionists, executives and news reporters. Connect with others in your favorite sports – share your sports knowledge and experience – collect High 5’s and grow your “Fan” base. This is the “pro experience” – the same experience enjoyed by professional athletes whenever they enter their locker room – free, easy and instant access to the people and information in your sport. Sportsideo began with two simple beliefs: 1) Participating in sports is good and helps children and adults lead happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives; and 2) people who share sports experiences improve their understanding of, and respect for each other.
