Seminar at Hofstra Law School Focuses on the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease
Hofstra Law School will host “Know The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease” as part of Alzheimer’s Association Long Island’s fall seminar series on September 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The seminar is being presented by Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, AALI, and Nancy Burner Esq. of Nancy Burner & Associates, P.C.
In her presentation, Ms. Malack-Ragona will give an overview of what the disease is, how it affects the body, the risk factors that may determine if you have the disease, the benefits of early diagnosis, available medications for Alzheimer’s patients, how to plan for the future and the resources that are available for those afflicted with Alzheimer’s and their families. Ms. Burner, a member of AALI’s Legal Advisory Board, will discuss long-term care planning and how to make such arrangements for a loved one with Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, 60,000 of whom live here on Long Island.
