Award Winning Director Fred Carpenter Debuts Send No Flowers

NEW YORK -- Sean Young (Blade Runner, No Way Out) comes out guns blazing with her new role as Toni Albano in award winning director Fred Carpenter’s Send No Flowers. The film’s world premiere is on Friday, July 19 at 9:30 p.m. at the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE).

Young plays a mafia princess out for revenge against the crime family who murdered her father Anthony (Tony Lo Bianco, French Connection, The Seven Ups, Kill the Irishman.)

“We hope this movie does for Sean Young what Pulp Fiction did for John Travolta,” Director Fred Carpenter said. “She [Young] is giving, caring and one of the best, if not the best actor I ever worked with. This is the best film shoot I ever had.”

In addition to Young and Lo Bianco, Jackie Martling (Howard Stern Show) stars as a seedy underworld club-owner in the independent movie.

“What a total joy to have been among the great cast and crew of Send No Flowers, said Martling. “Working with the beautiful icon Sean Young was such a great experience, and director Fred Carpenter is so warm and precise at the same time that it couldn't have been better.”

Filmed throughout Long Island, Carpenter has made over a dozen movies in the area. Currently, Send No Flowers is filming in Baldwin, Merrick, Malverne and Old Brookville.

“Long Island is a breeding ground for talent both in front and behind the camera,” said Carpenter.

Written by Lee Kolinsky and career cop Michael Lovaglio, Send No Flowers follows Toni (Young), who runs the city through the voice of her aging father Anthony (Lo Bianco). After Anthony is gunned down, Toni must join forces with her estranged sister to maintain control of the family before a hostile takeover ruins their lives.

Send No Flowers is really a story about two sisters Toni (Young) and Ava (Donna DeCianni),” said co-writer Lee Kolinsky “It’s about their relationship and how a family of crime and has affected it. “

The story explores Toni and Ava’s view of their father and his lifestyle. Toni views the criminal aspect and wants the power, while Ava is blinded by the wealth. It also investigates the greed and jealousy of the rival crime family.

“This isn’t just a regular mob movie, said co-writer Michael A. Lovaglio. It’s told like a Shakespearean play. It’s a drama surrounded by action.”

Send No Flowers also stars Robert Clohessy (Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire),  Donna DeCianni (The Blue Lizard, Eddie Monroe) and Russ Carmada (The Night Never Sleeps, Maggie Marvel).

“It's a pleasure to work with veteran actors Sean Young, Tony Lo Bianco and Robert Clohessy, said Lovaglio. “Sean is the star of this film and just having her on the set pushes us all to do our very best. She is giving a great performance.”

In addition to the ensemble cast, Send No Flowers is being co-produced by Michael J. Arbouet (Cross the Line, How to Grow a Fig Tree).

“Every time I work on a movie, its magic and the cast and crew of this film fit so well together,” said Arbouet. “It’s like working with your best friend.”If I'm excited about it, I'm pretty sure the audience is going to enjoy it.”

Send No Flowers is being shown at the Bellmore Movies, 222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY 11710.  Tickets will be available in June at the theater or online at www.longislandfilm.com . The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) will be from July 15th to July 25th.
