Yesterday, a Capital One Bank in the town of Sayville was robbed by a man who entered at 3:40 pm and demanded cash. The robber entered the 160 Main Street bank and handed a note to the teller which stipulated the demand for money. According to police in Suffolk County, the man is still at large; they have not elaborated on the sum of money which the robber demanded. The teller fulfilled the request and gave the money to the robber, who then left the bank and headed west on Main Street, after which he eluded authorities. He has not been seen since he headed away from the bank.
The teller described the robber as a white man with a thin to medium build, somewhere between five feet five inches and five feet eight inches in height. When the teller saw him, the robber was clothed in shorts and a long sleeved shirt, knee high socks, a fedora, and dark sunglasses. Authorities are asking the public for help tracking down the robber since they have run out of leads to track on their own. If you know anything about the robbery or believe you have seen the perpetrator, you may call in anonymously to Crime Stoppers. The number is 1-800-220-TIPS.
