There are those events that happen on Long Island that have a very clear and distinct audience. So, it is incredibly exciting, as a writer, to hear that Robert Harrison is going to be a guest speaker of the Long Island Writers' Guild at Levittown Library on Thursday, January 3rd, 2013.
Harrison is a Hofstra graduate, as well as East Meadow native, and has a rather unique specialty. In his writing he employs, and specializes in, historic research on the Internet. This is becomeing more and more prevelant in writing styles today that Harrison has been asked to give an informative talk on the subject.
As a busy writer, Harrison has written plays and more than 500 poems, as well as historic articles, he has a lot of practice, and discipline, in Internet research and historical fact checking. He also has more than 3,000 published photos to his credit and he has authored children’s books.
Harrison's most known play "Confessions of a Shakespeare Addict" has been performed on local radio and in many Long Island libraries. His poetry has appeared in anthologies and his historical articles including the “Long Island Dead Poets” have been published by the Oyster Bay Historic Society.
It is exciting to see such an accomplished writer come to the Long Island Writers' Guild to not only speak about his experience, but also teach us some tips and techniques.
