Registration is now open for the 8th annual Long Island Cruizin’ For a Cure Car Show, scheduled for September 8th, 2013, at the Sears Automotive Center on Routes 106/107 in Hicksville. The show starts at 6:30 in the morning for exhibitors, and is open to the public from 9:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. Not familiar with the Long Island Cruizin’ For a Cure show? It is an annual car show event which dedicates all of its proceeds toward screenings for prostate cancer. The event was very successful last year, and helped twenty two men to spot cases of potential prostate cancer. Over the event’s history, fifty four cases in total have been caught. In many cases, the early information was enough to save the lives of the patients.
Just today, the event planners announced that Winthrop-University Hospital has signed on as the newest partner in their non-profit show. Men attending the show will have the opportunity to receive free screenings on site. Last year, more than 2,400 people attended the show and enjoyed looking at more than 500 cars on exhibit. Proceeds which didn’t pay for screenings on site were donated to support other screening programs for prostate cancer and cancer cure research. Last year, more than $20,000 was gifted to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. So if you want to have a fun Sunday attending a car show and make a difference, register today to exhibit your vehicle.
