Smithtown, NY— St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center is pleased to announce the promotion of Heather Reynolds, CTRS, to the position of Assistant Director of the Foundation/Director of Volunteers. Mrs. Reynolds will be responsible for the recruitment of all volunteer programs at the hospital and nursing and rehabilitation care center, as well as assisting the Director of St. Catherine’s Foundation with fundraising initiatives. She brings a wealth of experience to her new role with more than 29 years in the health care industry.
Prior to her new appointment, Mrs. Reynolds was the Director of Therapeutic Recreation/Volunteer Services Coordinator at St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center, a position she held since 2001. While in her role, she was responsible for daily operations of the Therapeutic Department as well as coordinating volunteers. It was her successful efforts in building the volunteer program at the nursing home that attributed her recent promotion. She coordinated a partnership with the Smithtown Industry Advisory Board, creating a Healthcare Career Exploration and Internship Program, which offers high school students the opportunity to earn credits while gaining hands-on healthcare experience. Additionally, she has also assisted the Smithtown schools with the Business Olympics.
Mrs. Reynolds holds a Bachelors of Science in Recreation Administration and is a 2013 graduate candidate for a Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare at St. Joseph’s College. She resides with her husband in Northport and is an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and the National Family Caregiver Association. She is also a member of the National Recreation and Park Association, CPRP-Certified Park and Recreation Association and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by New York State Therapeutic Association.
Director of St. Catherine’s Foundation Joy Schneider, Esq. stated, “The addition of Heather Reynolds as the Assistant Director of the Foundation and the Director of Volunteers will allow the Foundation greater outreach into the community that St. Catherine serves. Heather is dedicated to expanding the volunteer program that she started at the nursing home to the entire campus, and to increasing the opportunities available at the hospital to volunteers of all ages – from high school student to retirees.” Mrs. Schneider added, “Her energy and enthusiasm will allow us to explore additional fundraising opportunities–which will benefit the Foundation, and thus St. Catherine. I am so excited, and energized myself by the possibilities having Heather on board presents to the Foundation, and the wonderful things I am confident we will accomplish together.”
