This coming Sunday, September 23rd, is the day that many electric car drivers and enthusiasts have been waiting for all year. This is the day that they can join in the fun and highlight the clean-air benefits, and cost-savings of electric cars as part of the second annual National Plug in Day.This is an amazing day where car dealers can come and show off the most recent advancements in electric and hybrid type cars, while electric car owners can showcase their prized treasure.
This even has grown from the previous year and now hosts plug-in vehicles by Nissan, GM, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Ford, Honda, and others which will be available for ride-and-drives. Along with the ride-and-drives available, there will also be EV chargers and other products on display. Solar panel installers will be there to show how people can “power their cars from the sun.”
This Long Island event of electric cars is one of 60 that will be hosted around the nation. These events are being held to deepen the awareness of electric cars and their impact on helping to clean up the environment. As a part of these events there will be electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, awards that will be given to leaders promoting EV-readiness, as well as launches of new public EV charging stations.
The Long Island National Plug In Day is hosted by the Long Island Sierra Club and Greater New York Electric Auto Association. Also included in those who are invested in making people aware of EV's is Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association are national organizers along with several local Long Island vendors and organizations.
The Long Island National Plug in Day will be at the Sun-Vet Mall, Northwest corner of Sunrise Highway and Veterans Highway, Holbrook, NY.
