Greenport, NY. (July 23, 2012) – With the help of Peconic Landing and the Suffolk County National Bank, The Manhattan Film Institute recently concluded its search for a highly talented and deeply deserving scholarship recipient. MFI Founder Tony Spiridakis spent countless hours reviewing short film reels that were created by participants of the East End Student Film Project, searching for the perfect student to bestow the prestigious MFI Scholarship upon. Dallas Dodge, a gifted and talented high school student from Mattituck High School, emerged from the sea of hopefuls and received the phone call that he had always dreamed of.
Dodge recently spent four weeks at Peconic Landing’s Brecknock Hall attending an intense and challenging director camp amongst professionals, post grad students and master’s students. While there, he was mentored by some of the industry’s most respected actors, producers and writers, including Tony Spiridakis and Jeff McCracken, founders of MFI. Also involved in the program are Academy Award Nominee Chazz Palminteri, who is best known for his work in A Bronx Tale and The Usual Suspects, as well as Celebrity Acting Coach Larry Moss, who is highly credited for Academy Award-winning performances by Hilary Swank, Michael Clarke Duncan and Helen Hunt.
The Manhattan Film Institutes, four week camp produced 20 films, which average approximately 5 minutes in length and will be shown at a private screening at Peconic Landing on August 3rd at 4 p.m. The screening will be headlined by Dallas Dodge’s short film entitled “Dominos.” This is a private screening, although media is invited to attend and must RSVP to gain entry.
