Paul J. Connor, III, President/CEO of Eastern Long Island Hospital, is being honored for his commitment to ‘older Americans’ at the 8th Annual Peconic Landing May Mile & 5K RACE/WALK on Saturday, May 11. Proceeds benefit the Greenport Fire Department.
The MAY MILE is a family- friendly event held on the grounds of Peconic Landing located at 1500 Brecknock Rd, Greenport. Registration opens at 8:00 am; the actual RACE / WALK starts at 10:00 am. A BBQ, Puppy Bowl, and raffles for all participants kicks off immediately following the post-race award ceremony and trophy presentations.
“This honor recognizes Connor’s years of service and continued dedication to older Americans, and salutes the differences he consistently strives to make in their quality of life,” says Robert J. Syron, President/CEO of Peconic Landing. “We expect approximately 600 participants from our local community as well as Peconic Landing residents.”
Since joining Eastern Long Island Hospital in 2000, Connor has championed the needs of 65+ populations. The Senior Options and Solutions (SOS) program, a program to both assess and assist residents to find the help needed in each individual case (a service that is FREE to community and not reimbursed by third parties), is just one example of Connor’s commitment. In addition to his duties at the Hospital, Connor currently serves on the board at Peconic Landing as Vice Chair, as well as Chairman of the Co-op Board.
Eastern long Island Hospital serves as the local healthcare provider for medical and surgical services as well as the regional healthcare provider in Behavior Health services. Not only does the Hospital provide award-winning care, but it also is an economic anchor as one of the largest local employers. Much of the $50 million budget is reinvested locally by way of the 90% of the employees that live in the East End communities.
