East Hampton, NY (June 17, 2013) - Iconic photographer Patrick McMullan will honor the 10th anniversary of his chronicle "so8os: A Photographic Diary of a Decade", with an exhibit at East Hampton staple, c/o The Maidstone this summer. The exhibit, curated by Eric Firestone, will launch on Saturday, June 22, with an invite-only cocktail soiree from5-7 p.m. hosted by c/o Hotels Proud Owner Jenny Ljungberg, with special guests McMullan and Firestone. McMullan will also be signing copies of his book onsite, retail price $80. c/o The Maidstone's lounges will be home to 25 black and white photographs from McMullan's "so8os" publication and will be open to the public June 23 through Labor Day.
“so8os” features many of the era's greatest fashion, music, and art icons, shot in such legendary nightspots as Studio 54, Area, Danceteria, Limelight, and the Cat Club. Some of the photographs that will be featured include: Andy Warhol and Steve Rubell at Dianne Brill's Birthday Party at Danceteria, April 5, 1984; Billy Idol and Perri Lister at Perri Lister's Birthday Party at the Cat Club, April 10, 1984; Neil Berry, Matt Dillon, and Jenny Wright at the Out of Bounds premiere part held at Revolution, July 23, 1986; and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tina Chow, and Andy Warhol at Susan Blond's dinner party for Ozzy Osbourne at Mr. Chow's, April 21, 1986. All items featured in the exhibit are available for purchase (pricing upon request).
The opening party will be held amongst the collection in c/o The Maidstone's eclectic lounges. A Swedish-inspired lifestyle hotel, the chic oasis on East Hampton's Main Street is highlighted by colorful patterns and unique finds, setting it apart from the typical Hamptons décor. Light fare will be provided by the onsite restaurant The Living Room and Chef de Cuisine, Mathias Brogie, who specializes in Modern American Cuisine with a Swedish/Scandinavian influence. The Living Room sets the standard for the Slow Food Movement in the Hamptons and the menu reflects a simple love for food with no fuss using local and seasonal ingredients. Cocktails by Absolut.
