Father Mike Vetrano, Pastor of the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary is bringing back an old tradition - the Annual End of Summer Tent Party on the Parish's Great Lawn on Hill Street. The evening cocktail party is titled " A Celebration of Life" in remembrance of longtime parishioner the late Mary Steinbrecher who co-chaired the last party some years ago and spearheaded its revival under the new pastor although she was dealing with a terminal illness. Chaired by Pat Corrigan and Joan Heinz, the Tent party will take place on Saturday, August 31, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on the great Lawn at 168 Hill Street, Southampton, New York 11968.
Once again the evening will include cocktails and delectable hors d'oeuvres by Tim Burke's 230 Elm and dancing to the music of Doug Dwyer. There will be a 50-50 raffle which will be announced that evening.
As well, the Parish Committee led by Charles Mottern is conducting a major raffle. The raffle tickets are $100 each with a maximum of 500 chances to be sold. thus giving a 50 to 1 odds of winning one of the ten prizes, totaling $20,000. Those that can not afford the $100 alone can share a chance with friends and or relatives. Drawing will take place at the Tent Party. Proceeds from the raffle and ticket sales will benefit Parish Programs.
Tickets for the Tent Party are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Tickets for either the raffle and or tent party are available by mail to "Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary, 168 Hill Street, Southampton, New York. 11968 or calling the Parish Office at 631-283-0097 or Email to parishoffice@shjmbasilica.org
