The Oyster Festival, that is held in Oyster Bay, Longs Island is going to host another great event during the same time. Members of the Oyster Bay Rotary Club as well as the Town of Oyster Bay are announcing that the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Long Island Championship will take place during the Oyster Festival 2012.
The LIC event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events will be held within the friendly confines of the athletic field at Theodore Roosevelt Park. This NFL competition is a great event that chlldren from ages 6 to 15 are able to showcase their skills in passing, punting, and kicking. This competition is score according to points gained from accuracy and distance. To be involved within this championship competition, contestants would have qualified through local events held throughout the area during the summer.
The top competitors at this year's LIC event in Oyster Bay will be then qualified to compete at the Regional which will be held at Met Life Stadium during a Jets pregame event. James Warner, a member of the rotary club, said,
“The Oyster Festival committee was looking for an opportunity to include the field as part of the Oyster Festival, as the field is the centerpiece of Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. The NFL and TOB have been fantastic partners, and we are excited to add a youth athletic event to the festival,”He also went on to say that after the official competition of the Long Island NFL event is over, they will open up the competition to anyone in the general public who would like to show off their skills.
