The Long Island Winterfest is a wonderful celebration of music, wine, and great food. This coming February 9 to March 17, 2013 the East End of Long Island will be alive and in full swing with the sixth annual Long Island Winterfest kicking off and going strong. Each year the festival continues to grow in not only attendance, but in the number of people who perform live events and those who display their arts. The 2012, Winterfest was awarded Americans for the Arts and Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI)’s Arts Destination Marketing Award. This is an award that is given annually to leaders from local tourism bureaus and local arts agencies who come together to use the arts to market the community as a travel destination.
During the 2012 festival there were over 60 live performances from artists that range from Grammy-nominiated artists and local jazz musicians. Each artist was well received as the festival brought life to Long Island during the middle of the long, cold winter.
This year, the East End Arts has announced that they are now actively accepting applications for musicians who would like to perform at the Long Island Winterfest at the East End Vineyards. Winterfest is a project of East End Arts, the Long Island Wine Council, Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Suffolk County Department of Economic Development.
Those who are interested in either performing as a musician, or want to find out more information about the festival you can go to the website at http://www.liwinterfest.com or contact East End Arts. Applications for being a part of the live performances must be submitted through the website.
