Those looking for nursing services, a rehabilitation center or a behavioral health hospital will now be able to find it within the North Shore-LIJ Health System. The health care system recently acquired Long Island Home to provide these services. Located on Long Island, this establishment has been a part of the community for years.
The biggest focus for North Shore-LIJ is the additions of Broadlawn Manor and South Oaks Hospital. They will become just another part of the largest health system in the region. It will also mean that the care offered at these facilities will be available to a wider population of people from the region.
The addition of South Oaks Hospital, a 233-license bed behavioral health hospital, will be the first addition of this kind in Suffolk County and only its second overall. IT will allow those within the health system to have better care closer to home when they need it.
The deal to combine these hospitals had to be approved by the federal regulatory review process. Immediately after being announced, the health service made sure to announce the addition through a press release.
Long Island Home has been offering quality healthcare to the area for over 131 years. By combining with the major health system, Long Island Home will have a larger operating budget to make improvements to the facilities.
The 1,152 employees within the Long Island Home system will still have a job within the North Shore-LIJ system. This will create a system which employs more than 44,000 employees throughout the region. All of the facilities are chosen because of their ability to help the community and provide leadership and expertise to all.
The North Shore-LIJ Health System is responsible for providing health care for individuals and families throughout the Long Island area. Communities within Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan also receive the benefits of having these health care services available to them. The health system covers all health needs for individuals and families.
