North Hempstead, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board are proud to announce that the Town will once again be hosting the annual Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks Extravaganza. All residents are encouraged to attend this spectacular event, which will be held on Saturday, May 25 at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.
The gathering will pay tribute to and honor those who sacrificed their lives in defense of our nation. The United States Marine Corps Color Guard, Nassau County Police Pipe Band, and the Volunteers of America firing detail will be present to commemorate those our fallen soldiers.
Live beachfront concerts will feature performances by the Classic Rock tribute band Minute By Minute, and high energy band Mack and Soul.
“This highly anticipated event is attended by tens of thousands of families each year,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “It allows our residents to join together to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country, while enjoying a magnificent fireworks display.”
The park will open at 3pm and the ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Residents are urged to arrive early. Vehicles entering the park will be charged a $5 parking fee. Once the parking lot reaches maximum capacity, buses will shuttle attendees to North Hempstead Beach Park.
